From San Jose by car (allow 50 minutes):

  1. Take highway to Alajuela
  2. Upon entering Alajuela turn right (East) and follow main road around as it curves North.
  3. Turn right (East) 2 blocks past the cathedral "La Agonía" (This is one block before a traffic light); go straight for about 600m, until you come to a T intersection.
  4. Turn right at the T-intersection, and follow the road about 400m as it curves left.
  5. Turn left onto the main road to Santa Barbara , which immediately crosses a bridge and curves right, passing a gas station on the left. Follow this main road, passing through Desamparados and San Pedro, to Santa Barbara . (Before arriving to Santa Barbara you may see one of our signs at the small intersection upon entering San Pedro de Santa Barbara ; you may turn left here and follow our signs to arrive at the farm more directly, but the road requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle. If you choose this route, look for the big black metal gate to the farm on the right side of the road after 1.7 Km.)
  6. Turn right upon entering Santa Barbara due to a one way street, and go two blocks.
  7. Turn left and go one block
  8. Turn left again to go back to the center of Santa Barbara .
  9. From the center of Santa Barbara go 2.5 Km North towards Setillál (passing the Santa Barbara soccer stadium). 
  10. Turn left at the light pole with our sign with the green circular logo and a red arrow, (A gate with columns painted orange and green in on the right, and a public telephone is just ahead on the right.) and go down 600 meters (The road changes to gravel half way).
  11. Turn left where our gate appears; it is wooden with white walls on either side.
  12. Go straight through the gate and down the little paved road inside the farm and park at the house in the middle of the farm.

From San Jose by bus and taxi (allow 90 minutes):

  1. Take the bus to Alajuela; the TUASA buses go to Alajuela, leaving San Jose from the park La Merced. 
  2. Walk to the cemetery park in Alajuela ("el parque del cementerio ") and take the bus to Santa Barbara .
  3. In Santa Barbara take a taxi to the farm.  Tell them "La Finca El Arca de las Plantas Medicinales en el cerro de Rosales" if they need extra instructions tell them "doblar a la izquierda por el teléfono publico de Setillál y bajar 600 metros". The taxi should cost no more than 700 colones.
  4. At the gate, walk straight down the little paved road inside the farm until arriving at the main house in the middle of the farm.

From Heredia by car (allow 30 minutes):

  1. Follow the signs for Café Britt leaving Heredia and continue on to the town Barva.
  2. Turn left at Barva and continue through San Pedro de Barva until arriving in Santa Barbara .
  3. From the center of Santa Barbara go 2.5 Km North towards Setillál (passing the Santa Barbara soccer stadium). 
  4. Turn left at the light pole with our sign with the green circular logo and a red arrow, (A gate with columns painted orange and green in on the right, and a public telephone is just ahead on the right.) and go down 600 meters (The road changes to gravel half way).

From Heredia by bus and taxi (allow 45 minutes):

  1. Take the bus to Santa Barbara ; the buses leave every 20 minutes from the park Los Angeles in Heredia.
  2. In Santa Barbara take a taxi to the farm.  Tell them "La Finca El Arca de las Plantas Medicinales en el cerro de Rosales" if they need extra instruction tell them "doblar a la izquierda por el teléfono público de Setillál y bajar 600 metros". The taxi should cost no more than 700 colones.
